Sharon is a friend so she's biased, I admit, but she's also someone I respect as an amazing yoga teacher. She helped to start me on my yoga journey and our time together practicing, and talking, in some ways prompted me to write this book. With this in mind, I wanted to share her thoughts on The Discipline of Joy . . .

"The Discipline of Joy is a thoughtful, heartfelt invitation to personal growth—and a distinctive guide for anyone seeking a more joyful, meaningful life. Having practiced yoga with Bryan Warren, I appreciate the humility, generosity, and lived experience he brings to these pages. Drawing on his significant background in healthcare as well as his personal journey, Bryan offers readers more than inspiration: he provides a practical framework for examining how they live, what they value, and how they might cultivate greater joy.

He weaves personal insight with the wisdom of great philosophers, creating an accessible introduction to multiple paths of study and self-discovery. The result is both intellectually rich and deeply approachable. I especially appreciate the sections on curiosity, which transform personal growth from a demanding obligation into an engaging, even joyful, exploration. His reflections on surrender are equally powerful, revealing how releasing the need for control can lead not only to greater self-awareness but also to self-love—and, in turn, to more open and authentic relationships with others.

What distinguishes this book most is Bryan’s humility. He does not present himself as someone who has mastered life’s challenges, but as a fellow traveler willing to share his experiences honestly and generously. That authenticity gives his guidance unusual credibility and makes it easier for readers to recognize themselves in his story. His writing encourages us to begin—or begin again—from a place of love rather than judgment.

The Discipline of Joy has the potential to stay with readers long after they finish it. It invites reflection, but it also inspires action: to become more curious, more compassionate, and more intentional about creating a life that feels genuinely fulfilling. Warm, wise, and deeply human, this is a book that can help readers not only think differently about joy, but practice it."
